From 28 September to 1 October 2026, all eyes in the design world will be on Valencia, where Feria Hábitat will once again bring together the sector’s leading firms and key figures. At this unmissable event for those with a passion for interior design, VICALDESIGN will unveil Capitel, the new collection designed by Studiopepe, the prestigious Milanese studio founded by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto, whose work spans architecture, interior design, product design and creative direction.
The coming together of these two houses has given rise to a particularly interesting collaboration, which builds bridges between the artisanal tradition of furniture-making and the most dynamic trends in contemporary design. Thanks to this, the Spanish firm is strengthening its ties with some of today’s most influential voices and reinforcing its enduring connection with the avant-garde. All of this is in keeping with the spirit that sets VICAL apart: a cultivated and multi-layered perspective, attentive to the myriad heritage, intellectual and formal layers that have shaped the history of furniture.
True to the promise embodied in its very name, the series draws its primary inspiration from the capital, and, more specifically, from that of the Ionic order. Drawing on the image of that stone that seems to trace volutes in the air, VICAL and Studiopepe bring memory and contemporaneity face to face and, following a meticulous series of trials, revisions and adjustments, have arrived at a refined design that strikes a balance between structure and ornament; between rigour and softness.
Thus, through demanding and patient work, both firms bring the most classical style back into the present with a renewed elegance. They masterfully contrast sinuous lines with stricter geometries, within a composition in which solid volumes and fluid surfaces bring into play three virtues that are highly prized and, therefore, sought after in domestic interiors: dynamism, movement and, of course, harmony.
“We have created a collection that conveys a sense of balance and stability, in which forms interact with the space in a natural and organic way. Capitel emerges as a fluid gesture, designed to foster connections between objects, environments and people,” explain Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto.
A modular sofa system will take centre stage at this eagerly awaited launch in Valencia. With enveloping forms, delicate transitions and carefully considered proportions, this versatile piece adapts perfectly to both residential settings – living rooms, lounge areas, gathering spaces… – and vibrant hospitality venues – hotels, private clubs, sophisticated lounge areas… –.
Furthermore, the collection is at its best in any interior that does not leave beauty to chance. Its palette of natural tones and the tactile richness of its materials allow it to grace any corner with distinction, in perfect harmony with the aesthetic sensibility shared by Studiopepe and VICAL, for whom the substance of objects and the way they are perceived are two of the fundamental pillars of their narrative.
This exhibition will mark the start of a long-term project that will gradually enrich the collection with new additions, whilst never straying from the legacy of classical archetypes or the creative freedom of the present.
“Collaborating with Studiopepe means opening ourselves up to new design sen-sibilities without losing VICAL’s identity. For us, this project represents a natural step towards an increasingly international approach to design, geared towards engaging with the contemporary world,” says José Juan Boluda, CEO of VICAL.
